Early Reports Naming Bombing Suspects Were Wrong

By this afternoon we learned that the suspected bombers were not actually the same people named in the early-morning hours after the shootout with police.

Mike Mulugeta is not a suspect and was not killed by police. Missing Brown University student
Sunil Trapathi is not a suspect and is not on the run from police.

Instead, we have learned, that the two suspects were brothers who emigrated to the United States from Chechnya. The older brother was killed by police early this morning. He was 26 year-old
Tamerlan Tsarnaev. He leaves behind a wife and child. Younger brother Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, a 19-year old Dartmouth student, is still on the run from police and has thus far evaded one of the most intense manhunts ever on American soil.

It is not known if Chechnyan separatist politics or Islamic fundamentalism were motivating factors for the attack on the Boston Marathon.
