Police said a suspicious cylinder that was found in the parking lot of Home Depot on Route 9 in the Town of Poughkeepsie was not a bomb.
Town Police Chief Thomas Mauro said there was no explosive powder in the object and police are leaving the parking lot with the object.

The object, which was found around 6:15 tonight, was a "good distance" from the buildings, Mauro said.
Police didn't clear the buildings but created a large perimeter around the object, he said.
